How To Sign Up
To sign up, go to the "Register/Login" box in the site's top right-hand column. Once you've registered, use the same box to log in when you return.
Remember, you can edit your profile except your user name, so choose that carefully! You can close your account whenever you want.
Use The Tools
Start with a Tool that appeals to you. Maybe you're an inveterate list-maker, or maybe you've just made an important resolution. Don't feel as though you have to use every Tool at once; just jump in and start now.
To use a Tool, click on that Tool from the top menu to go to that Tool's main page. There, you'll see other people's public posts for that Tool, and you can add your own post. Or, to go to your own personal Tool page that shows your posts, click on that Tool from the "My Tools" box in the left-hand column. From there, you can click "add your own..." to create a new post. It's less complicated than it sounds.
Remember, a public post can be viewed by anyone. If you don't want someone to read your posts, mark them "private"! Your private posts can be viewed by you only. If you change your mind, you can change from public to private, or vice versa, any time you like.
The Tools have character limits on entries, a limitation intended to keep the Tools manageable and quick to use.
What is a Happiness Project?
Your "happiness project" is your own project to take specific steps to boost your happiness. Start now!
To help you identify changes in your life that might make you happier, answer the following questions:
- What makes you feel good? What activities do you find fun, satisfying, or energizing?
- What makes you feel bad? What are sources of anger, irritation, boredom, frustration, or anxiety in your life?
- Is there any way in which you don't feel right about your life? Do you wish you could change jobs, cities, family situation, or other circumstances? Are you living up to your expectations for yourself? Does your life reflect your values?
- Do you have sources of an atmosphere of growth? In what areas of your life do you find progress, learning, challenge, improvement, and increased mastery?
Answering these questions provides a good roadmap to the areas that you could tackle — and the Tools will help you stay engaged with your happiness project.
Public/Private Posts
We can all benefit from seeing each other's Resolutions, Personal Commandments, Inspiration Boards, etc. It's inspiring and fascinating to see what other people write. However, if you prefer to keep your posts private, be sure to hit "private."
If you change your mind, you can switch from public to private, or vice versa, any time you like.
Edit Your Profile
To edit your profile at any time, go to "Manage" "Edit my profile" in the left-hand column's navigation menu. The one element you can't edit is your user name, so choose that carefully.
Edit Your Posts
Whenever you like, you can edit and add to your posts by clicking "edit." The one exception: once a second person has joined your Group Resolution, you can only add new items.
Invite Friends
To invite friends to join the Happiness Project Toolbox or to join you in a Group Resolution, go to "Manage" "Invite friends" in the left-hand column's navigation menu. Friends must be eighteen years or older to use the site.
Canceling Your Account
Log in (if you haven't already) and click on the 'Close My Account' button below.
Once you click on the button, you'll be asked again if you want to close you're account. Select 'I understand and wish to close my account permanently' and click on 'Close My Account' again. Remember, if you close your accont, you won't be able to retrieve any information you've posted and your account information will be deleted.
