Frantically getting ready for another trip. Things are coming together, which is a good feeling. A few last-minute things to sort out, but I'm already looking forward to the departure.

HAPPINESS HACKS On: Attitude
Sometimes a really small thing can perk you up: the watch repair guy who fixed my watch band and wouldn't accept any money; the pet shop guy who gave my dog a tiny treat when we were passing by; the normally grouchy neighbor who held the door for me.

Hard day. Hard week. Hard month. Hard year. Can't seem to move past this. I have a good day and then several bad ones. Yelled at the dog yesterday. How did I get here?
ONE-SENTENCE JOURNAL From: Do the right thing.
Bad weekend. Felt like a huge step backwards. Trying to get a fresh start todayl
ONE-SENTENCE JOURNAL From: Do the right thing.
Day four of back-on-track with correct diet and exercise. Was very hard at first, but I'm soooo grateful that my body seems to remember what it was like to be fit, and is responding quickly.

HAPPINESS HACKS On: Clutter
Never leave dishes in the sink overnight. Seeing a clean, tidy kitchen first thing in the morning is a real boost, as opposed to the depressing sight of chaos!
HAPPINESS HACKS On: Fun
Yesterday I watched in dismay as my dog rolled in cow poo. At first, I was really miffed. But as I watched her and saw how utterly gleeful and joyous she was, I started to laugh. After all, joy is joy, and we should celebrate it!

Getting up at 6:00 makes a huge difference in how I feel about myself. Still dark when I head out with the dog, but I'm off to a good start for the day. Very motivating.
ONE-SENTENCE JOURNAL From: Do the right thing.
Why is it so hard to do what we should and avoid what we shouldn't? We all KNOW this stuff! It isn't rocket science! But it is humbling to be so weak-willed in the face of temptation.

HAPPINESS HACKS On: Productivity
Make an unpleasant or boring task easier by combining it with something fun or useful. For example, I listen to podcasts while purging old paperwork!
RESOLUTIONS: The climb will be worth it!
I have been blessed with many things: relatively good health and mobility, a good brain, a decent place to live, a way to earn a living, a good professional reputation, a loving family. Starting now, I am ready to rebuild my life.
