Cool and Simple Life Hacks for Forgetful People

Are you known as that forgetful person among your friends? While you might do everything with good intentions, your forgetfulness can often cost you more than just angry buddies whose birthdays you forgot about. So, in order to put a stop to your forgetfulness, here are a few simple hacks that will make your everyday life easier.

Get those borrowed objects back

If you’re a generous person that loves to do favors for your friends and family members, then you probably often lend everything from money to tools to people around you. But, what happens when you forget who borrowed what? Easy! Take a photo of the lender holding the object and next time when you need it, you can just search through your gallery and ask them for your items back.

Keep your meds at arm’s reach

If you often forget to take your medication, why not change the location of your meds? Storing them in your medicine cabinet will keep them out of sight and out of mind. Instead, place that bottle of pills near the coffee pot or next to your breakfast cereals. Reminder apps can also help.

Remember lock combinations

The most common time people forget lock combinations are while they are not in active use. When you’re constantly using your locks, the combination will stay with you, but if you stop, it will not take long to forget those numbers. So, make sure to write the combo on a piece of paper and stick it onto the lock until you need to use it again.

Make peace with your keys

Forgetful people always battle with keys. They are small so they can easily get lost or misplaced and you can end up getting locked out of your car or house. So, in order to avoid that, make sure to keep your keys in one place and one place only. This way, you’ll always know where to look and you’ll create a practical habit. Grabbing a tracking device and using it as a keychain can also help when you misplace your keys at home or in your office. Having a bunch of spares can help, but it’s also smart to have a good locksmith on speed dial. They can service everything from deadlocks to electronic locks and will be at your disposal even during the night.

Put practical reminders

Notes are practical reminders, but they often get ignored when placed in a wrong spot. Instead of leaving them in your office or next to your computer, stick them to your light switches, doorknobs, keys or coffee pot. Pro tip: when you do the thing from your reminder, make sure to remove the sticky note, otherwise, your brain will learn to ignore it.

Timers are heaven-sent

If you love to have your garden nice and green, don’t let your faulty memory ruin your hard work! What you can do to eliminate all the need for watering your garden manually, you can rely on technology and invest in an automated drip system or grab an automated sprinkler system. You can set these up once and they will do all the work alone from there. Also, do you often rack your brain whether you unplugged the iron or turned off all the lights before leaving the house? If yes, don’t risk anything and invest in a timed outlet that can not only prevent many accidents but also allow you to relax and save some money on electricity.

Preventing forgetfulness is very hard—there’s no known “cure”. But, what you can do is surround yourself with things that will encourage you to jog your memory and keep everything under control.
